The BOER was and is today a very special people in the world, and certainly the
youngest nation, with its own Traditional Music, Traditional Foods and a new language
and a very unique style of Life.

Since arriving in Africa, in the 1600s the BOER just builds itself a NAME unique and
very different to all the peoples of the world, they had a reputation as the most fearless
warriors, the most fearsome farmers, developers this nation have developed their own
way of cooking because of their circumstances …

I grew up as a “Road maker’s” child, who again made up a very special group of
people or society. It is THIS GROUP people were gone from home weeks and even
months, building roads in the country. They live in Caravans and shacks along the
“road” lived in their Roadside Camps, where the iron pot, the ant hill oven and the grill
has prepared the most foods.

After publishing the VLEISLAND RECIPE BOOK Volume one, the inquiry about Traditional
foods were so great that we decided to also write a Volume 2 recipe book, where
we concentrated more on the Traditional Game Recipes, and Road maker’s foods,
which we grew up with.

Foods that are easily be prepared in the field without modern
kitchens equipment.

May whoever owns this book, enjoy the tradition of farmers foods, preserves and let
live.
All honor and gratitude to my Heavenly Father for the privilege and ability to compile
this book … as a reminder of all the cooks of the Boers and our tradition.

Die BOER was en is vandag nog n baie spesiale Volk in die wereld, en seker die jonste
Volk, met n eie Tradisionele Musiek, Tradisionele Kosse, en n Nuwe Taal en n baie
unieke Lewens styl.

Sedert die aankoms in Afrika, in die 1600’s het die BOER maar net n NAAM gebou
wat uniek en heel anders is as al die ander volke van die wereld, Hulle het n naam
gekry as die mees onverskrokke soldate, die mees onverskrikke landbouers, Boere,
ontwikkelaars, en nasie wat hulle eie manier van kosmaak ontwikkel het agv van hulle
omstandighede…

Ek het groot geword as n “Padmaker” se kind, wat weer n baie besonderse groep van
die boervolk se samelewing uitgemaak het. Dit is HIERDIE GROEPIE mense wat weke,
en selfs maande van die huis af gewerk het, en wat die paaie in die land gebou het.
Hulle het in Karavane, en sinkhuise langs die “pad” gewoon in hulle Padkampe, waar
die swartpot, die Muurshoop oond, en die rooster die meeste kosse voorberei het.

Na die druk van die VLEISLAND SE RESEPTE BOEK Volume een, was die navraag
oor Tradisionele kosse so groot, dat ons besluit het om ook n Volume 2 resepteboek te
skryf, waar ons meer konsentreer op die Tradisionele Wildresepte, en die Padmaker
kosse, waarmee ons grootgeword het. Kosse wat maklik in die veld gemaak kan word
sonder die modern kombuise se toerusting.

Mag elkeen wat hierdie boek besit, die Tradisie van die boere kosse geniet, bewaar
en laat voortleef.
